Redistricting Timeline

  • Authorizes the town to redraw its three municipal election districts using data from the 2020 federal census.
  • Sets a deadline of January 1, 2026 for this redistricting.
  • Requires future redistricting within two years of each federal decennial census.

Town Council Vacancies

  • Establishes a tiered process for filling vacancies:
  • If less than one year remains in the term, the Town Council appoints a replacement.
  • If more than one year remains, a special election is required.
  • If no one files to run in the special election, the Town Council appoints a replacement.

Secretary Role Clarification

  • Specifies that the Secretary must be a member of the Town Council.
  • Outlines the Secretary’s duties, ensuring clarity in governance.
